Kate is a year old today!
From the historic (literally) day she was born (read about it here), the first year of her life was certainly an adventure. With Kate being our second, Matt and I sort of expected things to be similar to Annie's first year. However, our little Kate very quickly showed us that she is her own little person! Kate is sweet and sensitive. She is shy at first, but once she gets to know you she's so lovable and affectionate. Kate is mischievous. She is into everything and laughs so hard when we catch her doing something she shouldn't. She's a long way from the screaming baby we wore around all day last fall and winter.
At a year old, Kate can walk! This past week has been a walking explosion. She still tumbles a lot, but she's toddling around like a champ. She loves to follow Annie around and steal all her toys. (Annie does not love this). At her one year check-up, Kate was at the exact top of the chart (31 inches) for height but only about the 35 percentile for weight (20 lbs, 3 0z). I find this nearly unbelieveable as she is a little baby vacuum. Our pediatrician said she'll probably just be one of those girls that can eat and eat, but never gain weight. Lucky for her :)
Then:
And Now:
She was so dainty with her cupcake. She just quietly stuck in a finger at a time and ate it slowly.
20 more years, Kate....
