Part Irish, Part Slovak, and a wee bit Ghanian

Our good friend Dan is from Ghana. He moved here to the U.S. when he was young, but he still has strong love for his home country--especially during the World Cup. Like those everywhere in the world outside the U.S., he loves his "football." He's been counting us all down to the start of the tournament for awhile, and when it finally started, it was quite the celebration. And, always up for a good celebration, Annie has jumped in with both feet. She has decided she loves Ghana. After their first win, she proudly waved the Ghanian flag and ran up our street with Dan and Steve in a celebratory parade. She's called Dan before the games to yell "Go Ghana!" And she said she wants to learn the "Ghana song."

This has been great fun for all. Until Saturday, when the U.S. played Ghana in an elimination match. Loyalties were declared. Insults were thrown. Flags were flown. They booed at us when I walked in with the girls wearing red, white and blue.

Sadly, the U.S. couldn't pull it out. Much to Dan's delight. And, apparently, Annie's. :)

Dan and our little Benedict Arnold.

Kate stayed faithful to the red, white and blue.
