Kate is a big girl. Or at least, we are forcing her to be a big girl, not matter how many times she tells us she's the baby and laughs. Shocking no one, Kate figured out how to climb out of her crib a few weeks ago. Once she figured it out, there was no turning back. She flat out refused to sleep there. Matt and I figured it would be fine because she needed to move to a bed at some point before baby girl arrives, anyway. So we took down the crib and moved the bed onto the floor in the room, even though the frame is not even close to being ready. We assumed the transition to the bed would be as simple as it was for Annie. And then, all hell broke loose. Since then, there has been much crying, swearing, threats of suffocation and calls to my mother--all by me. (And for the record, I was threatening to suffocate Matt, not Kate). Kate hated that bed with a passion for the first two weeks. Every time we mentioned it, she would scream NO!NO!NO! Then, in true Kate fashion, she stubbornly and persistently refused to sleep for the next two weeks. She cried and kicked the door and screamed for literally hours at a time. Almost to the point of impressiveness...or insanity. She did finally relent and now does seem to like her new and improved room. She only cries for extended periods of time a few times a week now. Annie was a bit jealous of all her new stuff, so that actually seemed to help. And Matt and I just know that one day Kate's strong will and stubbornness will make her very successful.

Nap time. Naps took even longer than nighttime sleeping, but we're finally there (I think). Every few days, she still falls asleep in front of the bedroom door, but today she curled right up on top of the bed. :)
Doesn't she look so small for a big girl bed? Oh, and good thing it's on the floor so far. She has fallen out (but ironically, it's never woken her up).
