I'm a little behind on my blogging, but we've been on quite the our of Ohio these past few weeks. So, here we are.
Evie is five months old :)
Shockingly, I haven't taken that many pictures of her lately, so this is the best I've got. Plus, I'm really tired because during the last month, Evie and I have not slept. That's right, my perfect baby decided to get a flaw :)
As soon as Eve started rolling over, right at four months, she became a tummy sleeper. She will NOT sleep any other way. So, we said goodbye to swaddling and then we said goodbye to sleep. At first, she hated not being swaddled, so she didn't sleep well. Then, once she got over that, she decided to sleep with her face--more importantly, her nose--pressed directly into the mattress.
Hmm. Bad photo cropping on that one. Kate obviously used this crib as a teether.
At least her head is turned slightly here.
Matt thinks I'm crazy, but I swear one morning, I startled back to life when she was sleeping like that. And that's what ended the sleep for me. I was so worried about her suffocating herself, and I had a major freakout. That lasted about a week, and just when I thought I was going to snap I was so tired, my friend Meg gave me the simplest solution.
An Angelcare monitor. It comes with a sensor you put under the mattress that alarms if the baby doesn't move for 20 seconds (it is sensitive enough to catch breath movements). Thanks to Amazon Prime, this wonderful invention arrived just two days later, and sleep was restored! (And Matt didn't even complain about how much it cost!)
Now, Evie will sleep from 8 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. She sometimes still gets up to eat during the night, but she is clearly not starving, so hopefully we'll totally cut those out soon. At five months, she can sit up assisted pretty well, she rolls all over the house, she loves grabbing and eating toys (and her sisters' hair) and she is still the most smiley, happy baby!

so my perfect little sleeper Evan is going through the same thing. We quit swaddling, he didn't know how to handle that, got over it, slept horrible, and now loves to only sleep on his belly (just like Evie) OR in his swing :/! Us moms don't have time for no sleep, come on kids!!! I have been meaning to ask you how Matt's 4th of July creation was... hot dogs wrapped with ground meat, and then wrapped in bacon. I think I may need to blog that recipe ;)
Way late on my response :) But yes, I think Evie and Evan need to hang out! They seem so alike.
And I'll have Matt send you his recipe. I'm sure it will compelement your others quite nicely! ;)
