Or, Happy Birthday Anne, as she would now prefer we say.
Our happy, easygoing Annie is six years old. SIX!
She's excited to be six. She feels so grown up. She wants us to call her just Anne now because that's her name. Annie (sorry kid, I'm going to call you Annie forever) is still as happy and friendly and in charge as ever. It's crazy to us that she's such a big girl. She got a love note from a boy at school a few weeks ago. It was adorable, and it was so strange to me that she has this life at school that we're not entirely a part of. She's more and more becoming her own little person. When she got the love note, I immediately thought this is so cute, I should put it on Facebook. But I thought better of it because I've been thinking lately that it's becoming less ok for me to share things about her with other people, especially personal things. She gets embarrassed by things. She wants to keep some things private. Basically, she's growing up. As much as I love my babies and toddlers and preschoolers, having a little girl is pretty great, too. It's also kind of scary to be honest. Being her mom is a challenge. I have the bitty stage down pretty well, I think. And now off we go to the school age stage. I'm lucky that she's so sweet and patient with me as I figure it out. She's an excellent test case :)
So happy, happy birthday to our firstborn darling who makes life so much easier and so much more fun (and also so much louder).
We love you so much Anne!
