We reconvened our tradition of going to cut down our own Christmas tree this year. I wouldn't exactly call it a success, but we did make it home with a tree. It's slightly crooked and rather rotund, but presents will fit under it just the same :)
Here is our story:
We set out on a balmy 26-degree day. They gave us this wagon to haul the tree back, so Annie and Kate hopped on for a ride out to find a tree.
After a minute, Kate didn't want to ride, so she insisted on getting off and walking.
But then a minute later, she said she was cold and tired and got back on. A minute after that, Matt said, I just don't think I'm made for the cold.
We wandered around for a looong time. Apparently, December 10 is too late to get a tree around Ann Arbor. This place was picked over! The girls were getting more annoyed and colder by the second. Luckily, we finally settled on this one:
Matt started cutting it down.
I had to remind him that this was fun. :)
And there are no more pictures becaue everything pretty much went to hell in a handbasket after this. We put the tree on the wagon and started heading back. We had walked a few minutes when Kate started crying because she was cold and her legs were tired. So, I carried Kate and Matt carried Evie while he pulled the tree. Soon, the tree fell off the wagon and Evie was slipping. A nice older couple wandered by, and when the woman mentioned our cute, sad baby, Matt handed Evie right over to her. Much to her surprise. So, Evie screamed at the nice lady while her husband helped get the tree back on the wagon. We continued on, me carrying Kate, Matt pulling the tree and hanging onto Eve, who was still furious that anyone besides her mommy would dare hold her. Annie decided not to be left out, so she also started crying for reasons still unknown. Our happy little family carried on this way until we got back to the car, where we blasted the heat and everyone was much, much happier the second they thawed. :)
Merry Christmas!
